Dann V. Angeloff Jr., 41 years old of Newport Beach, California, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013 following a two year battle with bile duct cancer. 

Dann Jr. was born on July 7, 1971 in Los Angeles.  He grew up in San Marino, California and attended Carver Elementary, Huntington Junior High and San Marino High School.  He attended Dartmouth College and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Government.  While at Dartmouth he was selected from a pool of national applicants to intern at the White House in the Presidential Advance Office.  Post graduation he spent three years with J.P. Morgan’s investment banking group. 

Dann was president of the Dartmouth Rugby Football Club.

Prior to attending the Harvard Business School from which he received his MBA, he joined the Marines graduating from Officer Candidates School (OCS), The Basic School (TBS) with honors, the Marine Infantry Officer Course (IOC) and the US Army Ranger School where he was awarded the “Tex” Turner Motivation Award.

He was a devoted Marine Corps Officer serving four years on active duty (1996-2000) as a Rifle, Weapons, and 81 mm Mortar Platoon Commander with 2nd Battalion 5th Marines.  After leaving active service, Dann Jr. volunteered as a reservist.  He was promoted to the rank of Major, and in 2008 he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as Company Commander, Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines.  His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and he was twice awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Dann Jr. was Founder and President of Hawke Homes, a manufactured housing distributor.  He gained his business experience with Waggin’ Train, Clayton Homes, Karsten Homes, Wachovia Securities and J.P. Morgan.

He was an unbelievable man, husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.  He lived his life with honor, compassion, integrity and selflessness.  He was devoted to his family, his friends and his Marines.

He is survived by his beloved and loving wife of 10 years, Dr. Anne-Marie Angeloff and three children:  Ragan (7), Mary Kate (5) and Danny III (2-1/2); parents: Dann and Jo Jeanne Angeloff; sisters:  Jennifer Singhal and Julie McGovern; brothers-in-law:  Shelly Singhal and Matthew McGovern; nieces: Gracie McGovern and Kelly Singhal and nephews: Nicky and Ryan Singhal, Joshua and Benjamin McGovern; his parents-in-law: Dr. John and Barbara Sanders of Greenville, SC and sister-in-law Sara Gay.
